Senior Bowl Biggest Risers
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is always an opportunity for NFL Draft prospects to elevate their draft stock. It’s a week of prospects getting to compete in one on one drills with the pads on led by an NFL coaching staff. If that isn’t enough pressure, there are talent evaluators from every NFL team and every media outlet watching their every move. Below are some of the guys who increased their stock the most in this April’s draft.
Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss:
All eyes are always on the QB position, and with Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders the presumptive one and two not participating in the Senior Bowl, it became a week of Dart vs Milroe for the early QB3. Dart seemed to get better every single day while Milroe had major struggles with accuracy in day 2 and 3 of Senior Bowl practice. I still like Milroe, but this week cemented Dart as a top 3 QB in this year’s class. I expect Dart’s name to get called on Day 1 of the draft, as a mid-late first rounder. With a good combine, pro day, and pre draft interviews he could climb even higher and have his name called within the top 10 picks.
Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State:
Just about everyone is gushing over Zabel this week. Todd McShay said every NFL scout he talked to mentioned Grey as the clear cut winner of the senior bowl. Coming from North Dakota State the concern was obviously the level of competition he faced. He put all those doubters to bed holding his own against a week full of competition of future NFL pass rushers. Zabel’s versatility was on full display. I like him as a center or guard at the NFL level, even though he showed he could play tackle at NDSU. He is easily one of my favorite interior offensive lineman in this class..
Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall:
If there was a signature moment of this year’s Senior Bowl practices it was Mike Green trucking Oregon’s Josh Conerly. It wasn’t just that viral rep, Mike Green dominated all week long. Mike Green’s burst, bend, and high motor will make him an immediate contributor to a defense next year. Mike Green has solidified his first round draft grade this week at the Senior Bowl.
Tez Johnson, WR, Oregon:
At the start of the week, all the talk was about how Tez Johnson was too small. Then the pads came on and he was absolutely unguardable. His weight under 160 lbs still scares me, but there’s no doubt he helped his draft stock by competing and winning every day at practice at the senior bowl. He’s closer to Tank Dell than Tutu Atwell, and in the right system he’ll have a role in the league next year..
MULTIPLE TIGHT ENDS!
Elijah Arroyo from Miami. Mason Taylor from LSU, and Harold Fannin Jr. from Bowling Green all had great weeks. This class might not have Brock Bowers, but this trio tightened the gap that headliner Tyler Warren has on them. I think Warren still may be the only Day 1 tight end to hear his name called, but I think all three of these senior bowl standouts could go day two in April.
